His original stage name was to be Armatige Shanks McDonald. I guess he got there in the end.

Even if you did not like his early snake hips and pelvis to his bloated sequined cat suit Vegas shows there is no doubt that he changed the face of music... an absolute icon... and this is coming from a Moddy boy

About time we allowed the poor bugger to rest in peace. Those 12 hour shifts in a northern chip shop are not easy you know.

I thought him grossly over rated at the time. But he would seem great when compared to most of the shit that followed. Pop music is shit.

The Colonel forced him to "grow up" too soon.
He still had another 4 -5 years of pure "rock & roll" in him before he needed to move on to match the maturing musical tastes of those who grew up with him.

Hound dog, Blue suede shoes,Jailhouse rock, I can't help falling in love with you, and a Little less conversation are all big favourites of mine, I have a cousin who used to be an Elvis impersonator back in the early eighties, I also love this one, not his biggest hit though, please watch and enjoy,

I see President Trump has just awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom He didn’t turn up to receive it.
One of the others went to the wife of a casino owner who is a big Republican donor so he is in pretty RAREFIED company.

Excellent if only for giving Bruce Bisland, the drummer with The Sweet, the opportunity to come out front and do Old Shep when pissed, when playing pub gigs years ago.
Superb entertainment.

In the ghetto - a song for our times
Sad then and sad that it’s still relevant now.
....and his mama cries
Apparently Elvis would cry when singing this song live as It moved him so much. Must have been a tune to move that lump!

Not to everyone's taste but he was certainly original.
The way I look at music, if you can instantly recognise their voice when singing, they've got something, Mick Hucknall - bit of a wanker but instantly recognisable. If you get my drift.
